Recovery continues for Cuba, Florida and South Carolina, where Hurricane Ian packed a deadly punch. Photos are pouring in from the devastation in Florida after Ian's strike. We've selected some of the best images that depict the scene that Floridians are returning to after evacuating.
Homes are nearly leveled and boats have been scattered on top of buildings and vehicles by the feet of storm surge that inundated cities near landfall. Roofs are seen torn off of buildings and trees scatter the roads, some of which were still flooded late into the week.

Many of the most impactful images are out of Fort Myers, where more than 7 feet of storm surge flooded homes and buildings. Some people in and around the city who expected to come home to clean up may find themselves rebuilding homes entirely.
Hurricane Ian made landfall on Florida's barrier island of Cayo Costa around 3:05 p.m. on Wednesday. More than 600,000 people are still without power on Monday, five days after the storm.
Ian struck South Carolina next, bringing flooding rain, storm surge and heavy winds to the area. The storm killed at least 128 people, 120 in Florida, five in North Carolina and three in Cuba.
