Speeding Chevy Silverado Plows Through Semi Truck Prompting Hazmat Response | Fontana

03.01.2022 | 9:29 PM | FONTANA – A Hazardous Material Response was dispatched to the scene of a semi vs. pick up truck that cause the semi to spill oil and fuel all over the roadway. At around 3 am first responders were dispatched to reports of a traffic collision involving a pick up truck and a semi. Upon arriving on scene they found a full size 18 wheeler semi had been completely taken out by a speeding 4 door Chevy Silverado. The driver of the semi truck was unharmed but the driver of the speeding pick up truck fled the scene on foot per the witness. The semi truck sustained heavy damage as the entire front end was completely taken out. The Silverado truck was severely damaged but didn’t appear to have sustained as bad as the semi. Large parts of the body and motor of the 18 wheeler were scattered all over the intersection. The hazmat team responded quickly with observant and neutralizing agents to began clean up of the fuel and oil that covered the streets. The witness of the incident said that he was behind the semi when the white truck shot through the intersection at a high rate of speed and slammed into the semi. Witness stated that the driver of the pick up truck self extricated and immediately fled the scene by foot. Crews continue to clean up the mess and the incident is under continued investigation.
