A shooting suspect wanted in Terrebonne Parish is in custody after being caught at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

Deputies took Leonte Poindexter, 24, Lockport, into custody at the airport just after 7 p.m. Thursday. He's facing aggravated assault with a firearm, obstruction of justice, and other gun charges. He remains in jail with no bond set.

According to Sheriff Tim Soignet, detectives learned that Poindexter left Louisiana to avoid being arrested and that he was seeking to return to the state. Soignet says his deputies were able to track down Soignet thanks to the assistance of the sheriff's offices of Lafourche Parish and Jefferson Parish.

“This case is a great example of what Law Enforcement agencies can accomplish when we work together," Soignet said in a press release.
