COMMERCE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A young man was taken to the hospital after a serious industrial accident caused him to get pinned under heavy duty machinery in Oakland County on Friday morning, officials confirmed.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reports that the victim, a 22-year-old man, was caught under a machine around 8:30 a.m. at Bob Rousseaux's Excavating company in the 11th block of Ladd Road in Commerce Township, close to Walled Lake.
The man was taken out from underneath the equipment and was rushed to the hospital.
Commerce Township Fire Chief Jim Dundas spoke with Langton and said the man was "crushed" under the machinery.
"It's like a road scraper machine, hydrolytic machine, very heavy duty," Dundas said of the equipment that trapped the man. "Our guys pulled him out, we transported him to Providence in Novi and Priority One and he is in extremely serious condition there."
Langton said the man was working on repairs to the machine when something went wrong.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the incident. No other details were released.
