State officials reported 10 more coronavirus-related deaths in West Virginia on Friday, while active virus cases increased about 90.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed the following deaths in a news release:
- a 77-year-old woman from Greenbrier County
- a 46-year-old man from Logan County
- an 80-year-old man from Harrison County
- a 46-year-old woman from Clay County
- a 78-year-old man from Logan County
- an 81-year-old man from Lincoln County
- an 87-year-old woman from Mason County
- an 80-year-old woman from Upshur County
- a 97-year-old woman from Cabell County
- a 79-year-old woman from Harrison County
West Virginia’s pandemic death total has now risen to 7,416.
Active virus cases were at 1,233, up 87 from the previous day. The DHHR also reported 385 new cases since the last update.
Hospitalizations were at 220, with 40 in intensive care and 13 on a ventilator. The numbers had not been updated since Thursday. Recoveries were at 591,909.
The state’s cumulative positive test rate was unchanged at 8.56%, while the daily positive test rate was at 5.30%, down from 6.24%.
On the county alert map, 40 counties (one less than the previous day) were in green – the color that indicates the least amount of virus spread. Fifteen counties were in yellow.
