One man is dead after attempting to drive in to two officers following an altercation inside a bar in Plains Township.
State Police say that they responded at around 1:33 a.m. to Ole Tyme Charley's Pub and Grill to assist Plains Township Police.
They said a man, later identified as 41-year-old Jason Kilduff from Pittston, was causing a disturbance in the establishment and had assaulted a patron and an employee.
State police say when the troopers arrived at the scene, Kilduff intentionally drove his pickup truck towards the troopers who were on foot.
One trooper was struck and injured and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both troopers shot at Kilduff while attempting to dodge the vehicle. The shots hit Killduff and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police said the vehicle hit the state police car and went over a knee wall into the vestibule of the pub. A utility pole was also hit.
According to our newsgathering partners at the Times Leader, a neighbor reported that they heard approximately 15 shots fired.
Police investigation found that Kilduff was highly intoxicated.
Police had shut down South River Street in front of Ole Tyme Charley's but have since reopened it.
State police say the investigation is still ongoing.
