Four New Advocates Join Henry County CASA

Paris, Tenn.–Four new volunteer advocates were sworn in to the Henry County CASA team this week. CASA stands for Court-Appointed Special Advocates and the volunteers advocate for children who are abused and neglected.

CASA Executive Director Tas Smith said they welcomed Dan Boudrie, Kathryn McDonald, Patsy Barrow and Judy Alexander to the CASA team. “We’re so happy to have these new advocates,” she said.
Henry County CASA now has 15 volunteers, she said, and the program is currently serving 55 children in the community.

All of the advocates are local to Henry County. They completed a training program in accordance with NCASA standards.

In photo, Judge Vicki Snyder is swearing in three of the four new advocates and you’ll notice a dog in the left corner. That’s a replica of Tanner who was the court’s first therapy dog. Tanner belonged to the late Barbara Fry and Ken Fry who had the replica made.

Judge Snyder said Tanner holds such a special place for the local court that his replica stays in place in front of the bench.
