The NBA’s offseason is a time for speculation. When the league’s teams aren’t playing games with measurable results, we can only guess what decisions they might make. 

For that reason, the league’s rumor mill churns overtime throughout the summer. Eventually, observers will reach some form of consensus over what’s more or less likely to occur.

In time, we’ll think we’ve got a grip on which teams are trading which players to which new teams. 

Until, that is, the season starts. That’s when we realize we were operating with a false sense of security all along. 

After all, there will always be teams that we expect to remain in win-now mode. Still, if they aren’t winning by the trade deadline, they could always pivot. Take the Chicago Bulls. Right now, it would be surprising to see them blow up their talented core.
