Rain from Hurricane Ian to reach Maryland this afternoon

Rain from Hurricane Ian to reach Maryland this afternoon
GREENMOUNT AND HOMEWOOD AVENUES ARE CLOSED BECAUSE OF THE SINKHOLE. AVA: HURRICANE IAN IS BACK TO HURRICANE STRENGTH, A CATEGORY 1. THE RAIN EXTENDS NORTH THROUGH THE CAROLINAS AND THIS WILL BE AIMING FOR ANOTHER LANDFALL IN SOUTH CAROLINA LATER TODAY BETWEEN CHARLSTON AND MYRTLE BEACH. THOSE ARE THE AREAS AT GREATEST RISK FOR WIND DAMAGE. HURRICANE WARNINGS ARE POSTED ALONG THE COAST OF SOUTH CAROLINA, BUT THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING CONTINUES THROUGH THE CAROLINAS WHERE THEY SEE A STORM SURGE AND RAIN AND WIND WILL BE AN ISSUE FARTHER INLAND AS WELL. . WE ARE SEEING WERE THE WORST OF THE IMPACTS SOUTH OF THE BALTIMORE AREA. MOST OF THE IMPACTS ARE IN THE CAROLINAS AND WE HAVE SOME COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORIES FOR OUR AREA. NOT EXPECTING MUCH OF A STORM SURGE ALTHOUGH THE TIDES COULD BE RUNNING UP A FOOT OR TWO ABOVE NORMAL. BE CAUTIOUS OF WHERE YOU PARK AROUND ANNAPOLIS AND THROUGH FELLS POINT. THE TYPICAL FLOOD SPOTS DURING A FLOOD EVENT COULD SEE SOME STANDING WATER. THE PRIMARY CONCERN IS TO OUR SOUTH BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE IAN WILL BE MAKING THE BIGGEST IMPACTS. THE RAIN EXTENDS NORTH SO THAT WILL BE ARRIVING HERE BY THE AFTERNOON. AS IT MOVES ON SHORE NEAR CHARLSTON AND MYRTLE BEACH, THE RAIN WILL BE GETTING TO OUR AREA. THE ACTUAL CENTER OF IAN SHOULD STAY TO OUR SOUTH, SO THAT IS WHERE A MAJORITY OF THE SEVERE WEATHER WILL BE. WE WILL SEE A COUPLE OF WAVES OF RAIN COME THROUGH SO IT WILL BE A SOGGY STRETCH OF WEATHER. IT IS A GOOD TIME TO RUN ERRANDS, GO FOR A WALK OR RUN, AND TIDY UP THE OUTDOORS OF YOUR HOUSE BEFORE THAT RAIN ARRIVES. WE WILL SEE THE SHOWERS ARRIVING SOMETIME BETWEEN 3:00 AND 4:00 P.M. ON THE FUTURECAST, YOU SEE HOW THE RAIN CREEPS FROM THE SOUTH. THEN IT STARTS TO GET HEAVIER OVERNIGHT. IF YOU HAVE TRAVEL PLANS OVERNIGHT, YOU HAVE A WIND DRIVEN RAIN. IF YOU CAN AVOID BEING OUT OVERNIGHT, YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF BECAUSE THERE COULD BE SOME PONDING. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THERE MIGHT BE BREAKS IN THE RAIN COME SATURDAY. I DO NOT THINK THE RAIN WILL BE AS STEADY. WE COULD GET ANOTHER ROUND OF STEADY RAIN PUSHING IN BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON. WE HAVE THE SHOWERS ARRIVING THIS AFTERNOON. THE WINDS WILL START TO INCREASE TONIGHT AND WE SEE GUST UP TO 25 MILES PER HOUR. EVEN INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK, W
