SANIBEL, Fla. – The U.S. Coast Guard is among the agencies taking part in search and rescue operations on Florida’s west coast.

The Coast Guard released footage of an aircrew from Air Station Miami rescuing a husband and wife Thursday who were stranded in Sanibel.

The husband greeted the crew with a smile, clearly grateful that help had come to them.

The man then led one of the crewmembers who came down from a helicopter to his wife who was still inside their home.

The couple was then hoisted up into the helicopter in a basket, one by one.

“It’ll be alright,” the crewmember reassured the husband.

Officials confirmed that the same crew rescued numerous other people in the surrounding areas around the same timeframe.
