WORK. WELL, NEW THIS MORNING, A GUILFORD MAN IS DEAD FOLLOWING A MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN LACONIA. IT HAPPENED WEDNESDAY EVENING. POLICE SAY STEPHEN MARCHON CROSSED THE YELLOW LINE AND COLLIDED WITH AN ONCOMING CAR. HE WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET AND LATER DIED AT THE HOSPITAL. NO ONE IN THE CAR WAS INJURED. POLICE BELIEVE THAT SPEED WAS A FACTOR IN THAT CRASH. A 22 YEAR OLD FROM GUILFORD IS FACING DWI CHARGES AFTER A SEPARATE MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN THE SAME AREA. Police say a 34-year-old man died after crossing the yellow line and colliding with a car Wednesday evening

Laconia police said speed was likely a factor in a deadly crash that happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Endicott Street East.Police said Steven Marchard, 34, of Gilford failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the double yellow line and collided with an oncoming car. When officers arrived at the scene, they said bystanders were giving Marchand CPR. He was taken to Concord Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police believe he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.While working the crash scene, police said an officer who was redirecting traffic was nearly hit by another motorcyclist. They said Travis Adams, 22, of Gilford was speeding through the area when he failed to stop at the detour and laid the bike down before crashing into a rock wall. Police said Adams missed hitting the officer by only four or five feet. Police said the officer was wearing a reflective vest, was standing under a street light with a flashlight and had his cruiser lights activated. Adams was later arrested on charges of felony driving while intoxicated and felony reckless conduct.Anyone with information about either crash can anonymously report tips to the Laconia Crimeline at 603-527-1717.
