CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hurricane Ian made landfall in Georgetown, South Carolina on Friday afternoon, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is ramping up its response so it can get roads reopened as quickly as possible after Hurricane Ian.

Let's connect the dots.

According to NCDOT, they have 374 backhoes, more than 1,400 chains, and more than 1,300 trucks ready to roll out.

They think this will speed up how quickly crews can clear downed trees and debris.

They say this will help them get the message out faster. NCDOT has also pre-positioned crews in flood-prone parts of the state. They've even been staging some equipment there to speed up the response.

Officials also add they have contractors on standby to help. The hope is roads can reopen as quickly and safely as possible.
