(Greenfield, MA) When Mayor Roxann Wedegartner placed Police Chief Robert Haigh Jr. and Lieutenant Todd Dodge on paid administrative leave on May 6th, she ordered an independent investigation. The results of that investigation are now available to the public.

The investigation was directed to look into a conversation between Haigh and Dodge that occurred in a parking lot behind the Hampshire Superior Court on April 22nd, 2022. Chief Haigh perceived the conversation as an attempt to circumvent court proceedings. The conversation became the subject of a conversation between Haigh, Dodge, their layers, and the judge of of Buchanan V. City of Greenfield case. This conversation is sealed as the judge deemed it “voir dire,” meaning a preliminary examination by a judge or counsel.

The investigation was carried out by Daniel Williams of Clifford & Kenny LLP. Williams at the rate of $225 per hour, paid by the city. The investigation concluded “insufficient credible evidence” to say that either Haigh or Todd committed perjury without the contents of the “voir dire” session.
