Victim in Sept. 29 hit-and-run crash in Wheat Ridge has died

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (KDVR) — Update, Oct. 26: Wheat Ridge police said the driver and vehicle in the crash were identified and interviewed and that the driver was unaware they had hit someone.

Update, Oct. 1: Wheat Ridge police confirmed Saturday that the 56-year-old man who was hit by a driver Thursday night has died.

“We are still working to ID the hit & run driver who witnesses say was in a blue or teal sedan, possibly a Chevy Cruze,” the police department tweeted.

Original: Police have been searching for a driver who crashed into the man and fled the scene.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday on Kipling Street near West 41st Avenue, according to the Wheat Ridge Police Department.

Police said a man who was using a walker tripped and fell into Kipling Street. The driver crashed into him and “took off.” The man was in critical condition Thursday night.

The suspect vehicle is a blue or teal sedan that could be a Chevrolet Cruze, police said.
