JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – The #4 Jamestown volleyball team improved to 15-2 on the year Thursday night with a four-set victory over visiting Dickinson. Set scores were 25-19, 25-15, 19-25, and 25-22.

Jamestown relied on seniors Bernadette Newman and Haylie Hakanson in the opening set to jump in front 1-0. Newman and Hakanson combined for nine kills during set one. In the second, sophomore Edie Hegerle recorded six service aces as Jamestown cruised to a 2-0 advantage.

Dickinson led for the majority of the third set and pushed Jamestown to a fourth match point in the fourth before surrendering for their ninth loss of the year. Makenna Nold picked up the match-ending kill for the Blue Jays, her eighth of the night.

Newman led Jamestown with 19 kills on the night and Hakanson tallied 14. In addition to her eight kills, Nold finished the match with 30 assists and three service aces. Hegerle picked up seven aces and had 19 assists.

Jamestown, now 15-2 overall and 8-2 in the West Region, will play three more matches at home over the course of the next week. The Blue Jays host Watford City on Saturday at 2:30 PM before taking on Legacy and Mandan next Tuesday and Thursday. The match against Mandan will be a double counter in the WDA standings.
