Red Cross van leaves Concord en route to Orlando to help feed hurricane victims
All hands are on deck to help those in need down South.
Michael and Jessica Craig, of Portland, Maine, started volunteering at disaster sites with the Red Cross after they retired from jobs in health care.
Their van left the Red Cross Center in Concord late Thursday afternoon, on its way to Orlando, Florida.
Once they get to Orlando, they will be deployed to another part of Florida, where they will be delivering hot food to people in need.
They said they love making a difference in the lives of people that are down and out.
“The Red Cross steps in when people are having one of the worst days of their lives and says let me make this a little bit easier and help you while you get back on your feet,” Jessica Craig said.
“The Red Cross has a motto, that they help to relieve and prevent human suffering,” Michael Craig said. “It’s not theoretical. It’s drop dead, boots on the ground serious about that.”
The Craigs said they are proud to be able to make a difference in the lives of the people they help.
