Trevor Noah's Appearance on Dua Lipa's Podcast May Explain Those Dating Rumors

Nearly one month after Dua Lipa and Trevor Noah sparked dating rumors, the former released an episode of her podcast, "Dua Lipa: At Your Service," featuring a conversation between the two. During the episode, released on Oct. 21, Noah recalled the first time he saw Lipa perform live, right before she shot to stardom.

"I remember I was in Ukraine (at the Champions League final), and I saw you there, and I remember you came on to perform and it was so weird," Noah said. "I remember people were like, 'Who the hell is that?' And I was like, 'It's Dua Lipa!' It's like all these old men who've come to watch a football game, and they're just like, 'Who is this person?' And now there's like no one in the world who doesn't know you. I think that journey is what a lot of people don't know about is how gradual and incremental that process is."

At the end of the episode, Noah also called Lipa "a really wonderful light" after sharing a story he once told a friend of his. "I even said to my friend one day, 'Every time I see Dua Lipa, it's at an award show,'" he started. "'So, now that means if I see her, my life is going well. So now I just hope to see her more, so that it means my life is going exceptionally well.'"

"You've always been really wonderful and gracious. You've always been a really wonderful light, just in the spaces that everybody's in, so thank you for taking the time," he concluded. "I appreciate you."

Noah's comments on Lipa's podcast were recorded days before the comedian announced his exit from "The Daily Show" on Sept. 29, which probably explains those photos the Daily Mail published that same day showing the two stars enjoying dinner together in New York on Sept. 28. The musician and talk show host apparently spent the evening at Jamaican restaurant Miss Lily's in the East Village.

"They were quietly sat away from everyone else at [the] restaurant," a source who reportedly witnessed their dinner told the Daily Mail. "It was clear they were into each other and sat close together throughout the meal. They left together and walked, stopping for long embraces and on the second kiss with hugs." Reps for both stars did not respond to POPSUGAR's requests for comment.

Lipa previously dated Gigi and Bella Hadid's brother, Anwar, but the pair reportedly took a break in December 2021, per People. "It's a little bit of give and take, trying to find the right balance of being so excited and being in love, and wanting to share that with the people around me, but at the same time not wanting to put too much out there," she told British Vogue during their relationship. "I want to be able to just be happy in this relationship without having other people's opinions."

Meanwhile, this past May, Us Weekly reported that Noah ended his on-and-off relationship with his girlfriend of two years, Minka Kelly, with a source saying that they had been "broken up for a while."

The "Daily Show" host provided a window into his approach to flirting in 2017, telling People Now, "When I meet a woman, I'm still the kid in high school — I'm still like, 'Hi, my name is Trevor.' Never open with a joke. It is the most horrible thing. Jokes require context. Without context, you're just some random person who came and told someone they fell from [heaven] or some randomness, and if you mess it up, you look worse and it seems like an insult. No humor! Just say hello. That's it!"

Neither Noah nor Lipa have specifically commented on the status of their relationship, but on the Oct. 7 episode of the latter's podcast, the singer said, "For me, this is the first year I've not been in a relationship for a very long time. It's been really great to just be alone and only think about myself and kind of be quite selfish, which I've never really had the opportunity to do." It's unclear if Lipa's comment was in response to her and Noah's photos.
