NFL Network’s Stacey Dales reported yesterday that New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas wasn’t available during the open portion of their practice.

While his status remains questionable, he is already listed in the team’s injury report for Week 4 due to a foot issue.

It would be a big blow for the Saints if he missed their game against the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.

After all, he has been a steady contributor to the team with 171 yards and three touchdowns.

More importantly, opposing defenses are having a hard time covering the 2019 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

PFF Fantasy Football tweeted, “Michael Thomas: 8 contested catches this season Most in the NFL.”

Thomas has 16 receptions out of 22 targets, averaging 10.7 yards per catch.

He also caught all five passes thrown at him in their loss to the Carolina Panthers.

However, he is yet to have a 100-yard game, a feat he hasn’t done since Week 13 of the 2020 season.

A Long Time Coming For Thomas

Thomas was placed on injured reserve on December 2020 due to a nagging ankle injury.

Initially, he thought that rest was enough to recuperate from that condition.

He ended up playing seven games in 2020, tallying 438 yards and zero touchdowns.

Thomas underwent surgery during the 2021 offseason, forcing the Saints to put him on the physically unable to perform list.

But he ended up missing New Orleans’ entire 2021 campaign due to setbacks in his recovery period.

Back in action, Thomas will be a vital asset for the Saints’ march to a postseason return.

They hope the former Ohio State standout will regain his All-Pro form in time for their important game against Minnesota.
