Ringgold High School Performing Arts program launches new nonprofit initiative: ‘Center Stage’

Ringgold, GA (WDEF) – Last year The Ringgold High School Performing Arts program raised nearly $30,000 for a nonprofit with their performance of “Catch Me If You Can.”

The program had so much success, program officials say they’re now making it a regular activity.

The RHSPA has announced the creation of “Center Stage.” Each season, the program will select one area charity to receive funds from a dedicated performance.

To help kick off the ‘Center Stage’ program, cast members from the upcoming musical “Mary Poppins” will deliver kite kits to hospitalized patients at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger next October 4th.

Meg Asciolla is a senior at Ringgold High School and is playing the lead in the school’s production of ‘Mary Poppins’. Meg said once she saw the impact she and her peers made with last year’s production, they weren’t ready to stop giving back.

“The whole cast was involved in wanting to give back. Alot of us just, last year with the ‘Save the Ukraine’ effort, we realized we didn’t want it to be a one time thing, so we thought about other ways we could give back, but closer within our community,” said Asciolla. “So, I kinda brought up the idea of helping kids in the hospital downtown at Erlanger.”

The inaugural Center Stage recipient will be Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

Ringgold students will then perform the iconic musical ‘Newsies’ on March 4th.
