OAKLAND — Tickets are currently available for the annual quilt raffle and other prizes benefiting Hospice of Garrett County.
The quilt was created and donated by members of the Heritage Quilters of Western Maryland group. The design is “Star Formation.”
“We are offering an amazing array of six prizes for our annual raffle once again this year, only made possible by continued community support,” said Donna Jo Brenneman, executive director of Hospice of Garrett County. “Recently, we were honored with the presentation of a beautiful queen-size quilt from the Heritage Quilters of Western Maryland. The 2022 design “Star Formation” would be a beautiful addition to any home.”
She noted that members of the community look forward to purchasing tickets each year in hopes they will take possession of the quilt.
“Although we don’t see how it is possible, the handmade quilts that these ladies so delicately create are more beautiful and unique than the one before,” Brenneman said.
She noted that businesses supporting the youth at the Garrett County Livestock Sale and donating the beef and pork to Hospice this year for the raffle were Mettiki Coal, Monique Mehring and Clear Mountain Bank.
“This raffle is so very imperative to support our day- to-day operations and is our last fundraiser of the year,” Brenneman said. “We cannot thank everyone enough for purchasing a ticket and are forever grateful to all that contributed such fantastic raffle items.”
Tickets are available at Oakland, McHenry and Grantsville First United, the Hospice Oakland and McHenry offices and from all of the staff members.
The cost is $1 each, or six for $5. The drawing will be held Oct. 28.
