Phoenix Human Services Campus gets $15K donation

Posted

The Human Services Campus, a collaborative force of 16 partner organizations with a shared outcome of ending homelessness for people every day, received a $15,000 check from UnitedHealthcare on Thursday.

The donation will support the nonprofit organization’s October “ThirstAid” efforts, which provides bottled water for people experiencing homelessness.

The Human Services Campus reaches approximately 1,800 people a day and distributes at least two pallets worth of bottled water per day during the summer months.

UnitedHealthcare’s donation will provide 50 pallets of water (nearly 100,000 bottles), allowing the nonprofit to keep its clients hydrated and healthy during the month of October, and saving the organization from hosting their own water drive.

“We hope this donation brings attention to the plight of the homeless and to the Human Services Campus’ efforts to support that in-need population,” said Jean Kalbacher, CEO UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Arizona, in a statement. “Right now, the immediate goal is to offer resources and provide dignity to these people. Water is essential for health and October can still be quite hot in Phoenix. We often forget that there’s a need for water outside of the extreme summer heat.”
