Ashland County Board of Commissioners

Thursday, Sept. 29, meeting

KEY ACTION Authorized County Engineer Ed Meixner to apply to the Ohio Public Works Commission for funding to replace bridges on County Road 1775 and on Main Street.

DISCUSSION The question of why the county is responsible for a bridge inside the city limits was brought up. “West Main Street is an extension of 1356,” Meixner explained. “People may ask, ‘why is the county funding a bridge in the city?’ The answer is because the Ohio Revised Code says we have to.

“The code says that any extension into the county, or into the city from the county, requires that the county share in the maintenance. We would like to apply and see if we can get some funding for this.”
