In the wake of disaster, there’s nothing like a hot meal and a fresh shower. And that’s what volunteers with Texas Baptist Men are taking to some of the hardest hit areas in Florida.
“We’re going to make sure that folks get a hot meal and a nice clean shower,” said John Hall with TBM. “They’re going to have laundry services. We’re hand-delivering those resources in the coming days.”
Hall says TBM’s first wave of volunteers will arrive within the next 24 hours. Up to this point, they’ve been working to determine what kind of help is needed where.
They’re sending flood recovery teams to help clear debris and minimize damage to houses in addition to their mobile kitchen and shower units.
“There’s lots of folks that are responding,” Hall said. “Coordination in this early stage is critical.”
