Did You Know That Hugh Jackman Spent a Summer in Michigan?
Hugh Jackman is known for playing a Wolverine, but not the maze and blue version. The X-Men movie franchise is set to eventually come back in a new form courtesy of Marvel Studios. I know what you are thinking. "Didn't Hugh Jackman's character die in Logan?" Yes he did, but the guys were kind enough to give us another video to explain the continuity issues:
Hugh Jackman might not have a connection to the maze and blue, but he does have a pretty nice Michigan connection. Part of which is right down the street in Mason. Back in 2011, Hugh spent a lot of time in Pure Michigan filming, "Real Steel." Odds are you might have been to a few of these spots.
The gym owned by Hugh's love interest in the film wasn't actually a gym. It is the Detroit Fire Department HQ on 250 West Larned at Washington Blvd. This is the spot where he unboxed his new Japanese boxing robot.
That same robot goes on to lose its first fight at Crash Palace. In real life, it isn't known for robot fighting. It is actually The Model T factory at 91 Manchester Ave in Highland Park.
Before it was demolished, the Lions called the Pontiac Silverdome home. In, "Real Steel," the Silverdome is used to create Starblaze Arena.
In the movie, a robot fight takes place at the Schaefer Zoo. In reality, the fight was filmed at the Belle Isle Nature Zoo
Charlie (Hugh Jackman) and his son Max take a road trip and stay at the Parkway Motel. In the movie, this takes place in Texas, but in reality the address is 16200 Dixie Highway in Davisburg.
Cobo Arena, The People Mover, and The GM Renaissance Center all combined to form some of the urban locations both during the day and night.
When Hugh's character Charlie argued for custody of young Max, it took place pretty close to Lansing. The Ingham County Courthouse in Mason doubled as that location.
From Detroit to Holly, the entire movie was filmed in the mitten. Hugh spent plenty of time in our great state. We don't know where Deadpool 3 will film yet, but you never know. Maybe Hugh will come back to Michigan and bring the Canadian Treasure that is Ryan Reynolds with him.
