Citizens of Fort Stockton and those in surrounding communities will have an opportunity to meet and enhance relationships with local first responders and law enforcement next week.

The Fort Stockton Police Department and Pecos County first responders will participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 6 -9 p.m. Citizens are asked to call the Fort Stockton Police Department at 432-336-4600 and ask to speak to Miranda to sign-up a first responders visit. Individuals are encouraged to speak with neighbors and gather for the yearly event.

National Night Out was introduced in August of 1984 through an already established network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and volunteers across the nation.

National Night Out grew to become a celebration beyond just front porch vigils and symbolic efforts amongst neighbors to send a message of neighborhood camaraderie. Neighborhoods across the nation began to host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events.
