The Montana VA announced Wednesday that the 2022 flu shot clinic starts next week. According to the press release, Montana veterans enrolled in VA healthcare have several options to obtain a free flu shot.

Enrolled Montanan veterans are offered flu shots at their primary care appointments. They also have access to flu shots at specific urgent care locations and pharmacies statewide. Many Montana VA clinics also have additional options to get the flu shot, like walk-in options and drive-through flu clinics that vary by location.

Dr. Judy Hayman, Executive Director for the Montana VA, said the flu is a respiratory infection that is preventable by getting the annual flu shot. “The flu shot is a safe, compassionate way we can protect others by stopping the spread of the flu virus,” Hayman said. The flu shot is a safe and effective way to ensure people do not get sick from the virus.

The flu typically impacts high-risk groups such as women who are pregnant, adults over the age of 65, and people with weakened immune systems. It can also affect those with medical conditions like asthma or heart disease and individuals who live in nursing homes or long-term care facilities.
