Catawba Ridge’s Katherine Mann tees off on the first hole at Fort Mill Golf Club during Wednesday’s match against Fort Mill.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ golf team beat Fort Mill in a dual match at Fort Mill Golf Club Wednesday.

Catawba Ridge shot a 160 to Fort Mill’s 183 to beat the Jackets by 23 strokes. The Copperheads were led by a 38 from Katherine Mann and Eileen Zeoli, who shot a 39. Kate Gilmer finished with a 41 for Catawba Ridge and Reagan Lynch rounded out the scoring with a 42 for the Copperheads as well.

For the Jackets, Mackenzie Finn led Fort Mill with a 41. Her score was followed by a 44 from Sam Benton and a 47 from Cayla Cappuzzo. Ava Starosky rounded out the scoring for Fort Mill with a 51.

Next up for Catawba Ridge and Fort Mill is a tri-match including Nation Ford at Springfield Golf Club Tuesday, Oct. 4. The match will be a one day, 18-hole tournament will be between all three local schools in Fort Mill Township.

Fort Mill will head into the Region 3-5A tournament Oct. 10 at Chester. Catawba Ridge will also play in their Region 3-4A tournament at Chester the same day.
