Aaron Judge has finally reached baseball immortality.
With home run No. 61 on the season, Judge officially tied New York Yankees legend Roger Maris for the most home runs in a single season by an American League player.
It had been over a week since Judge had hit home run No. 60, but Judge finally came up with the historic blast on Wednesday night.
There was one fan in the stands that almost had the ball, but ultimately came up just a bit short.
Instead, the ball went into the Toronto Blue Jays’ bullpen, where bullpen coach Matt Buschmann caught the historic souvenir.

Without even trying, Buschmann managed to catch a piece of baseball history, which certainly had to be a thrill for him.
Not many people can say that they caught a historic home run ball like that, but Buschmann can.
That’s a moment he’ll never forget, even though the home run was hit against his team.
Fortunately, Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano returned the ball to the Yankees, bringing it to their bullpen.
But it’s interesting that it ended up landing in Buschmann’s hands.
It is good though that it’s now back in the Yankees’ possession.
That’s where the ball ultimately belongs.
It’s now a relic in Yankees history and a reminder of a moment that Judge and his teammates will never forget.
Still, it had to be cool for Buschmann to have the opportunity to catch the ball in the first place.
For just the briefest of moments, he had his hands on a piece of baseball history.
But the Blue Jays ultimately did the right thing by returning the ball to the Yankees.
