Stabbing During Robbery Reported On Rutgers Campus: Police

An armed robbery led to a stabbing at Rutgers University early Thursday, Sept 29, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 1:29 a.m. near the intersection of French Street and Prospect Street in New Brunswick, university police said.

During a brief fight, one of three suspects slashed the victim’s arm with a knife, according to Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop. The victim is not affiliated with the university.

The suspects then took personal possessions and fled on foot.  The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Cop said.

The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time contact the NBPD’s Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
