Christina Aguilera honored her heritage by naming her ninth studio album "Aguilera." She is also touching on topics that are more personal to her, such as a "difficult relationship" with a loved one.

"No Es Que Te Extrañe" is expected to be on the third installment of "Aguilera," and the heartfelt song is about the singer's childhood.

"For me, it does touch on some experiences I had growing up, the environment around me. Inside the home and outside the home, I witnessed various forms of abuse," she said, not naming who the song was written about.

Focusing on her growth forward, the 41-year-old singer clarified that she wrote the song for "closure in a peaceful way,' "My purpose is to tell a story that hopefully others can relate to and feel empowered by and find forgiveness for themselves and those who have hurt us."

In "Aguilera," the singer delved into her journey as a Latina child growing into a Latina woman in the music industry.

"Something that I really embody and understand is that, you know, this is a name that has been tried to be taken away from me on numerous occasions coming up in this business," she explained why her surname was so significant.

As a woman of color in the industry, Aguilera fought to keep her surname, along with dealing with her past that forged her into the woman and artist that she is now.

"It's important to let go of things that hurt us so badly that we end up being held prisoner ourselves by them," she said about "No Es Que Te Extrañe."

Just like the rest of the album installments, "La Luz" will explore themes in relation to Aguilera's struggles and triumphs.

Despite being born in New York, Aguilera wanted to tap into her heritage and pay tribute to it by releasing an all-Spanish-language album.

"Why not come full circle in all of the chapters and close it on a name, my name," she said

Breakthrough

It seems that the move to pursue an all-Spanish-language album paid off because Aguilera was nominated several times at the Latin Grammy Awards.

With 10 nominations, she was among the most nominated artists.

In an interview, she explained that people had trouble pronouncing her surname, which led to people telling her to change it, however she refused to do so, "I'm proud to be an Aguilera."

Perhaps now people will be educated on how to properly pronounce her name, given that it is in the running to win Album of the Year at the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards.

Aguilera is a multi-awarded artist, with a handful of awards under her belt as early as the age of 19 years old. She was one of the youngest recipients of a Grammy Award and was even awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
