What Happened to Rika and Yuta at the End of Jujutsu Kaisen 0?

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 centers on the story of Yuta Okkotsu and his curse named Rika. The movie shows his journey of becoming a special grade sorcerer and how he honed his newly found ability to exorcise spirits and eventually save his friends. But what happened to Rika and Yuta at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen 0?

Towards the end of the dark fantasy movie, Geto and Yuta had an intense face-off wherein Yuta’s strength was enhanced by Rika’s cursed energy.

The duo became strong enough that Geto decided to retreat. Does that mean that Yuta and Rika will continue working together, or has Yuta finally exorcised Rika?

What Happened to Rika and Yuta?

To defeat Geto, Yuta and Rika had to go all out. By using Rika’s cursed energy, the curse was broken and Yuta realized that she became a curse because of him.

He did not want to accept her death and placed a curse on her so she can continue having a physical form.

Once she was free of the curse, her spirit passed on. Yuta knew he had to let go of Rika to give her the peace she needs.

The post-credit scenes showed that Yuta was in Kenya with Miguel and their simple dinner was cut off when Gojo came and informed him about a new mission.

Who Is the Curse Working With Yuta After Jujutsu Kaisen 0?

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is not the last time fans will see Yuta. In fact, he will be back in the main storyline and it seems that Rika is still with him.

But how is that possible if Rika's spirit has passed on at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen 0?

It was revealed that the Rika with Yuta in the Shibuya incident is not the same Rika from Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

After the real Rika was gone, a vessel called "Rika" transformed into Yuta’s cursed technique and plays the role of sentient storage of cursed energy.

With this new Rika, the vessel can store cursed techniques, cursed energy, and weapons for Yuta to use in battle.

She can also be used as a combat partner, and with her ability to exhibit free will, feelings, and thoughts, Yuta can give her commands so that the two of them can win against multiple enemies.

Even if the vessel is not as strong as the previous Rika, she is still something that average Jujutsu sorcerers could fight.

Yuta also improved a lot, making the two of them difficult to beat.
