Hurricane Ian is in the Atlantic and on its way towards the Carolinas and eventually Maryland.
Ian is expected to make landfall as a category 1 hurricane by Friday afternoon near Charleston, South Carolina. Hurricane warnings are posted for the South Carolina and North Carolina coast. After that, Ian is forecast to move northwesterly, weakening as it moves inland toward the Appalachians.
Maryland will stay dry through Friday. The first showers associated with Ian will arrive Friday evening and night. The heaviest rain is expected overnight Friday into early Saturday.
Rain will continue throughout the day Saturday as high temperatures only reach the mid 60s.
Expect off-and-on showers on Sunday through the evening. Temperatures will reach the mid 60s, so it will be cool and rainy for the Ravens game against the Bills.
Scattered showers are possible on Monday, and between now and then, parts of the state could get more than two inches of rain, according the Weather Prediction Center. Higher amounts are possible locally.
More scattered showers are possibly on Tuesday, but drier conditions and warmer weather will arrive by the middle of the week.
