Electric rates going up for Cloverland customers

DAFTER, MI— Cloverland Electric Cooperative is raising its rates next year.

The Co-op’s Board of Directors voted unanimously this week for a 5.4-percent increase for residential and general service and a 4-percent increase for large business and government.

Officials say the average resident’s monthly bill will go up $4.73. The bills for large, industrial customers will rise nearly $400. The new rates take effect in January.

Cloverland officials say the new rates will still rank among the lowest of the state’s utilities.
