Benjamin Plank was arrested after authorities said he shot two Oklahoma County deputies serving eviction papers at a southwest Oklahoma City home. Sgt. Bobby Swartz died, and Deputy Mark Johns was injured.
Plank then led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Oklahoma City before surrendering outside the main gate at Tinker Air Force Base. Authorities said Plank shot at officers during the pursuit.
The court appearance Thursday was supposed to be Plank's second. He didn't have much to say during the first court appearance as the judge told him the charges he faces.
Authorities charged Plank with first-degree murder, three counts of shooting with intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle.
