Read some of what Michael Niziolek of Cleveland.com wrote about the Bengals’ secondary welcoming the talk of Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill coming at Eli Apple.

The Bengals secondary scouted plenty of video this week of Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill.

That included film of the comments he made about Eli Apple after Miami’s 21-19 win over Buffalo that got blasted out all over social media on Sunday night.

“I can’t wait to go against Eli Apple, man, I owe you boy, I owe you,” Hill said to the reporters in the locker room. “I’m here, the Cheetah is here. That’s it.”

The two have shared history going back to last season’s AFC Championship game when Apple tackled Hill at the goal line as time expired in the first half. Apple once again declined to speak to reporters when the locker room was open to the media on Tuesday, but his teammates were willing to speak on his behalf.

“I don’t know if Eli got him tickets to the Super Bowl or not,” Bengals safety Jessie Bates said, smiling

Apple’s fellow starting corner Chidobe Awuzie, who has been tasked with covering the opposing team’s top receiver the last two years, enjoyed the theatricality of Hill’s performance. Hill made the comments about Apple at his locker wearing his patented pink-tinted Cheetah sunglasses with a towel draped on his shoulders like a cape.

“It’s entertainment,” Awuzie said. “That’s what people want to hear, people want to see. Obviously, I thought it was funny. We were all laughing at it. It’s all good competition. You can’t go out there and fight somebody, so we are going to play football at the end of the day. It’s going to be fun.”

According to Awuize, the former Chiefs receivers wasn’t much of a trash talker during the two games he played against the Bengals last year, but it wouldn’t have bothered the corner if he did.

“It adds some spice to the game,” Awuzie said. “Y’all talk about it, people talk about it and it feels a little hype. Get the numbers up for the NFL.”

The one thing Awuzie wouldn’t talk about is how he was able to have success against Hill last season. Hill had 13 catches for 118 yards and a touchdown, but only one of those receptions was an explosive play.
