Ram Trucks is offering a new off-roading option for its heavy duty truck line.

The Stellantis brand said it will introduce the 2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel Thursday in connection with the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.

The Rebel, a trim level currently available on the Ram 1500, will slot between the Laramie and Power Wagon and offer a turbo diesel option, according to a news release.

Ram Trucks CEO Mike Koval Jr. said the heavy duty Rebel, which will make use of the Power Wagon’s structure, will offer “a combination of off-road performance without having to sacrifice capability.”

The new heavy duty Rebel will have special badging and a sport performance hood from Mopar, off-road suspension, rear limited-slip differential and rear electronic locker, 20-inch wheels (18-inch wheels will be optional), 33-inch off-road tires and skid plates to protect the fuel tank and transfer case, the release said.

The Rebel will come with a standard 6.4-liter Hemi V8 or an optional 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel. The gas version promises 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, while the diesel version should manage 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. The Rebel is rated for 16,870 pounds of towing and a payload of 3,140 pounds.

A 12,000-pound capable winch installed at the factory is available on versions equipped with the V8.
