Coffee fundraiser raises nearly $10K for Rescue Mission

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN)- Thursday is National Coffee Day and the perfect day for the kick-off of the Mahoning Valley Coffee Trail.

The event was a new fundraiser for the Mahoning Valley Rescue Mission, and it was so successful that all the trail guides sold out. The Rescue Mission raised over $9,816 for the cause in less than an hour. The money will go toward the daily costs of running the mission.

For a $15 donation, each supporter got a trail guide with coupons for free coffee at 17 different local shops.

The guide is valid for six weeks, so it gives everyone plenty of time to visit all of the locations.

After visiting all of the participating coffee shops, a guide holder will be entered for the grand prize, which is valued at over $750.

“We immediately jumped right on board. It was something we wanted to do to help out the community, which is a huge part of what we love to do, and we wanted to help out the Rescue Mission in meeting their goals as well,” said Matt Campbell, co-owner of Branch Street Coffee Roasters.
