These are the last two forums the Courier Journal is holding in conjunction with its mobile newsroom partnership with the Louisville Free Public Library system. The forum for District 1, which includes parts of the West End, Old Louisville and downtown, was held Aug. 23 at the Western Branch Library. The District 5 forum focused on candidates running in south central Louisville was held Sept. 21 at the Fairdale Branch Library.

Interest in running for school board is up across the country as disputes over mask mandates and how race is taught in school have drawn conservative candidates who want to see change.

In Jefferson County Public Schools, four of seven school board seats will be on the November ballot, with all four incumbents – Chairwoman Diane Porter, Vice Chairman Corrie Shull and members James Craig and Linda Duncan — facing challengers.
