A popular Portland restaurant is closing its doors.
Stanford's Restaurant at Jantzen Beach just announced it's closing temporarily to ensure the safety and security of guests and its team.
"If you take a look around there, the amount of homeless challenges in that area was significant," said Jim Rice, the owner of the Fields Bar and Grill in the Pearl.
Rice said he considered opening a second restaurant in Portland, but because of safety issues, reconsidered and took over an existing business near Camas.
"So the contrast from a business standpoint is the amount of energy we have to do with dealing with issues in Portland versus Vancouver is night and day difference," said Rice.

He said it's been a challenging time to be a business owner in Portland, but he has taken notice of the city's recent emergency actions.
"The challenge is it’s only been a few months, so we haven’t been able to see the impacts from those actions yet; hopefully, it starts turning around," said Rice.
KATU reached out to Stanford's corporate office to find out if the closure was indeed temporary but haven't heard back.
