The core of Hurricane Ian, which has been downgraded to a Category 1 storm with 90 mph winds, is about to enter the southern part of Osceola County west of Yeehaw Junction, moving north-northeast at 8 mph, as of midnight.

Regardless, heavy rains are covering most of the county, on the way to dropping over 12 inches of rain in Osceola before the system moves off the coast late in Thursday morning. A Flash Flood Warning was issued through 3 a.m. for north central Kissimmee, in the area of Shingle Creek north of East Lake Toho. Shingle Creek is expected to be at moderate flood stage by morning near Campbell, not far from Good Samaritan Village. That area saw major flooding during 2017's Hurricane Irma that required large-scale evacuation of the area.

The major rain shield is north of the center of the storm, which came onshore near Fort Myers around 3pm Thursday then moved north-northeast to northeast across the state, losing its initial strong punch. Expect winds of 55-75 mph across the county through about 6 a.m.
