Somerset woman gives herself the gift of better health

After decades of struggle, Debra Harrison, of Somerset, has ditched her CPAP machine, is off insulin therapy and — inching toward that finish line 10 pounds at a time — has finally reached her goal weight of 230 pounds.

Debra Harrison was recently recognized for being the biggest loser — but in the best way. The Somerset resident was crowned TOPS Club royalty for dropping 81.5 pounds through the weight-loss nonprofit and named its 2021 Massachusetts Queen. Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School has won a major grant that will bring new equipment to two programs in fast-growing industries. Diman received $2.5 million in state money through the Skills Capital Lab Modernization Grant. Find out where it’s going and who will benefit right here. 

And Karissa Albin had herself quite a day for the Somerset Berkley field hockey team on Wednesday. The talented Raiders forward netted a career-high seven goals to lead unbeaten SBR to a 9-0 road win over Bourne. It was the most goals scored in a game by a Raiders player since two-time state champion Cami Crook netted eight goals against Wareham in a COVID-shortened season in March 2021.
