Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Downplays Recent Defensive Issues

The Dodgers took a tough loss to the Padres on Tuesday night that took 10 innings of miscues and agony as the team still remains one win away from their franchise record. The miscues ended up needing Craig Kimbrel to come through with a save before inevitably allowing two walks in a row to seal the game.

There was a lot that went wrong for the Dodgers last night, but despite the miscues, Dave Roberts isn’t worried about how the team will handle this moving forward (quotes via SportsNet LA).

“Not at all. I guess I’d rather have it happen now than later. For me, the way that we prepare, the way we play, the intent, it’s all where it needs to be.”

Rightfully so, Roberts shouldn’t be worried despite the ugly performance from his ball club. The team still is motivated to continue winning games, they have extra rest heading into the postseason and they need as much time as possible to have key players return from injury.

The Dodgers still remain at the top of the league despite losing four of their last 10 games, a chunk of losses Dodgers fans haven’t been used to seeing all season long.

The panic button isn’t set yet, but the hope is the sloppy play displayed from the team Tuesday will be an indicator to wake up and show the league why the Dodgers are still the team to be feared moving forward.
