Man dies after crash on Oriana Road in York; Driver charged with DUI

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A front-seat passenger died in a DUI crash Wednesday night in York County, police say.

According to Virginia State Police, the single-vehicle crash occurred around 6:35 p.m. in the 100 block of Oriana Road, off Old Denbigh Blvd, where the road curves.

Police say the driver of the Chevrolet Colorado pickup, Kyong Sik Kim, was heading east on Oriana when he lost control of the truck and ran off the road, striking a utility pole.

His passenger, Isaiah Michael Kim, 26, was wearing a seatbelt and was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Kyong Sik Kim was charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving. Police say both men lived on Jean Court in Newport News.
