Amazon Prime Video has announced the launch date for Jack Ryan season 3.

The Office US and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actor John Krasinksi is returning as Tom Clancy's grizzled CIA agent for eight more episodes of busting baddies from December 21, 2022... although it's not as simple this time around.

Season 3 sees Jack wrongly implicated in a large conspiracy and has to go on the run from both the CIA and an international crime organisation. What's a good fugitive to do? Travel across Europe to try and clear your name while trying to stop a huge global conflict, all while trying not to get killed, of course!

Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are returning as James Greer and Mike November, respectively, while new cast members include Nina Hoss and Betty Gabriel as Alena Kovac and Elizabeth Wright.

Season 2 switched things up by turning the clean-cut Jack of the first season into a harder-edged man with revenge on his mind, and it definitely looks like it's getting ever darker with season 3. We wouldn't worry about the already-confirmed season 4 getting too dark, as we're sure Jack will remain as hilariously indestructible as ever.

Season 4 will feature a return for Abbie Cornish's Cathy Mueller, who hasn't been seen since season 1. Meanwhile, Lost's Zuleikha Robinson and Station 19's Okieriete Onaodowan are joining season 4 as the characters Zeyara and Adebayo 'Ade' Osoji.

It looks like the fourth season of the show will be the last, but the season 3 finale will introduce Ant-Man's Michael Peña as Ding Chavez, who is getting his own spin-off series at some point in the future.

Jack Ryan season 3 launches on Amazon Prime Video on December 21.

Joe Anderton

Joe Anderton is a freelance news writer and resident Welsh person at Digital Spy, having worked there since 2016.

In his time he's covered a host of live events, interviewed celebrities big and small and crowbarred a countless amount of great/awful (delete as appropriate) puns into articles.

A big fan of TV and movies both mainstream and obscure, Joe's main interest is in video gaming. Although particularly a PlayStation gamer, he plays across Xbox, Nintendo and PC/Steam Deck, and likes to keep tabs on many games he's not got the time to play.

Joe currently does not use Twitter, but he only ever used it to tell people to watch the film Help! I'm a Fish (which you really should do).
