CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A 17-year-old girl was fatally shot in the face in Crown Heights on Wednesday evening, according to police, who said the victim did not appear to be the intended target.

Shayma Roman was shot in front of an apartment building on Eastern Parkway around 6:15 p.m., officials said. Roman was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Police said early Thursday that it’s believed Roman was not the intended target of the assault.

Two men were seen fleeing the scene. Both suspects fled north on Rochester Avenue. No arrests have been made.
