ACPD Gets Search Warrant, Finds 17 Marijuana Plants In Local Residence

A search in Ark City Wednesday led police to 17 marijuana plants and other drug-related items that were collected as evidence, according to Ark City Police Chief Eric Burr.

Just after midnight, police were called to 1030 N. 5th Street for the report of a disturbance.  Officers made contact with the parties involved including the homeowner.  

While investigating the disturbance officers identified items inside the residence associated with the growing of marijuana. The homeowner, Stanford Shapley, 62, was questioned about the items located. 

A search warrant was served on the residence where the marijuana plants, methamphetamine, cultivating paraphernalia, and drug paraphernalia were located and collected as evidence.  

Shapley was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia for cultivating a controlled substance.  

He is currently being held at the Cowley County Jail with a bond amount listed at $18,500.
