COUNTY DISTRICT COURT. FROM THE COURT FILINGS, WE FOUND GREGG IS BEING CHARGED AS A FELON WITH FOUR COUNTS OF EMBEZZLING PUBLIC MONEY, PUBLIC PROPERTY AND CONCEALING PUBLIC PROPERTY. THE OKLAHOMA STATE AUDITOR FOUND GREGG ALLEGEDLY. STOLE $250,000 OF TAXPAYER MONEY AS WELL AS AN SUV AND SCHOOL COMPUTERS. GREGG WAS THE FORMER SUPERINTENDENT OF JUSTICE ALMA WILSON KEYWORTH ACADEMY IN OKLAHOMA CITY. THE SCHOOL WAS KNOWN FOR SERVING CHILDREN IN THE OKC AREA AFFECTED BY CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. IT OFFICIALLY CLOSED IN JUNE OF 2019. I REACHED OUT TO THE STATE AUDITOR TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW THEY FOUND EVIDENCE SUPPORTING THESE EMBEZZLEMENT ALLEGATIONS. STATE AUDITORS CINDY BYRD RESPONDED WITH A STATEMENT SAYING, QUOTE, SAY, I ONLY AUDIT SCHOOL DISTRICTS BY REQUEST IF THERE APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM. SEE WHERE THE ACADEMY WAS INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT A PROPER ACCOUNTING OF THE FINANCES. BASED ON OUR AUDIT FINDINGS, TODAY’S EVENTS EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE THAT THE TAKING AND SPENDING OF EDUCATION DOLLARS MUST BE DONE WITH ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY. A former superintendent of a closed Oklahoma City charter school has been charged with embezzling school funds.Janet Grigg is facing multiple counts of embezzlement and stolen property.From the court documents, KOCO 5 found Grigg is being charged as a felon with four counts of embezzling public money, public property and concealing stolen property. The Oklahoma state auditor found Grigg allegedly stole $250,000 of taxpayer money, as well as an SUV and school computers.Griff was the former superintendent of Justice Alma Wilson SeeWorth Academy in OKC. The school was known for serving children in the OKC area impacted by the criminal justice system but officially closed in June of 2019.KOCO 5 reached out to the state auditor to learn more about how they found evidence supporting these embezzlement allegations. SeeWorth Academy was investigated because there was not a proper accounting of the finances. The investigation is still ongoing.
