With Jesse Lee Soffer‘s Chicago P.D. exit looming on the horizon this fall, one can’t help but wonder if Jay Halstead and his Med brother Will will get to share a moment before Soffer bids adieu to the #OneChicago universe.
“I hope so. I really do,” Nick Gehlfuss, who plays Will, tells TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett in the above video interview from a recent #OneChicago Day press junket.
“I really enjoyed working with Jesse. I’ll never forget how he welcomed me into the whole franchise,” Gehlfuss continues. “This show changed my life, and Jesse really took me under his wing, and I’ll never forget that because that’s the type of guy that he is. He’s done a fantastic job with his role. And the fans have always said they enjoyed seeing the Halstead brothers together. We loved working together. And so I guess it’s just a testament that when you’re really enjoying something, the fans are experiencing that.”
As for how Will will handle not having his brother around anymore, “I think he’ll be extremely lonely,” Gehlfuss says, “because at this point, both of his parents aren’t alive. And as far as we know of the Halstead family, that’s all Will has left.”
“That’s why I think maybe a relationship would be good for Will, to have someone else around,” the actor adds. “I mean, he has his colleagues, of course, but something a little more intimate to go home to and be with.”
Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC, while P.D. airs at 10 pm.
Hopefully they get rid of both Halsteads like they did the Dawsons. I sometimes wonder between Will and Jay who is more of a sanctimonious tool.
Ha, they haven’t had a scene together in years, does Will even know he’s married?
He probably sent a text or something.
That’s one of the first things I thought about when I heard Jesse was leaving. We’re never going to get a brothers scene together again.
So if the show runner thinks Will needs another relative around just add a character already! Make her be his bratty teenage cousin who’s left home under dubious circumstances to live with him. Problems and story lines galore! Her name could be Holly Halstead.
You’re hired!
Halstead is the best cop on the team & he keeps the team together ,I’m really sad to see him go !!!
I might quit watching. Erin is gone now whats going on?
The “Chicago’s” on Wednesday nights are never missed. I’m sad that Jesse will not be on the show! He belongs in the “family” of intelligence. I certainly didn’t like it when the characters of Alvin left the show. I loved him 💕 Now if Amy Morton leaves the show that’ll be it. She’s my favorite and plays her role perfectly…don’t let me leave. I love the Chicago PD gang…even you Hank!
I will not miss Halstead one bit, wish he’d take Upton with him.
I hate when something good happens to a character such as get married then they leave. Are they still married?? It’s so sad!!!
The husband threw up his hands and tossed the remote on this show, a while back. After years of waiting, no one ever had an upbeat relationship happen in his opinion with even the supposedly working out good ones, i.e. “She got married and the husband hasn’t been on the show for two years.” The final straw was for Dr. Charles psych doctor to lose out with that professional lady. (I’ve worked on the laptop by him during the chicagos since Olynsky’s death then Antonio’s breakdown then non stop fire and med’s breakups and don’t get me started on Trudy’s sidelining). Med is no longer recorded. It was ridiculous when they had Will just walk away from that doctor who finally got her brain cleared. Silly.
Jesse is the reason I even watched Chicago PD and with him leaving I have no interest of tuning in. I don’t watch Med so I have no clue what Will’s done or is doing.
The show can survive. He was great! He tried to keep too much of the underhanded stuff from happening. Bye Bye. He probably got a great offer to be the Starr of his own Show. Good Luck.
Is there a chance of Jesse coming back to CPD. I hope so
