Kade Varner threw for five touchdowns -- four to Isaiah Lovett, who had five catches for 177 yards -- as the Crescent Tigers opened district football action Friday night with a 48-15 romp against the Watonga Eagles.

The Tigers (4-0, 1-0) travel to Christian Heritage Academy on Friday for what should be a stern test.

Varner, who was 13-for-18 for 265 yards, got his first score when he hooked up with Lovett on a 48-yard pass play at the 9:16 mark and Varner’s PAT was good. The Tigers struck again on a Varner-to-Boston Cox pass, and it was quickly 14-0.

In the second quarter, Varner connected with Lovett to make it 20-0 before the Eagles cut it to 20-7 at halftime.

The third quarter sealed the deal when Varner and Lovett hooked up on 77-yard and 18-yard touchdown plays.

Crescent added fourth-quarter scores from Tanner Rice and Tyler Neugent to make it 48-7. The Eagles scored with two minutes remaining.

CJ Wilson led the rushing attack with seven carries and 42 yards.

Crescent had 462 yards of total offense, while the Eagles had 235 yards -- 170 of that all on the ground by one running back.

Christian Heritage (4-1) beat Hinton last week 22-19 in the district opener. Its lone loss was in the season opener to Oklahoma Christian School, one of the top Class 2A schools in the state.
