An Old Town Portland staple will be closing its doors for the last time on September 30. Captain Ankeny’s Pizza announced on Facebook that they have decided to close for good.
The statement that was posted on September 23 reads: “Sad to announce after nearly 40 years and three locations in the Old Town neighborhood Captain Ankenys will be closing our doors for the last time after service on Friday September 30th. If you get a chance come say hi before then. Thank you all for your patronage, it’s been quite a ride!”
Our news partner, Willamette Week, is reporting that the owner, Jon Abrahamson is shutting the business down due to the poor condition of downtown and the lack of workers returning to the neighborhood for jobs.
Willamette Week also says that Abrahamson will continue to sell his pies at Portland Saturday Market for the foreseeable future.
